Mastering Instagram in 2024; 3️⃣ Game-Changing Focus Points

Instagram constantly rolls out new features and makes improvements to existing features. Every so often you want to update your Instagram app to make sure you have all the upgrades. It’s not necessary to know or use all the features, but if you are curious head over to Instagram’s page @creators.

And there are trends; they come and go. If you like to hop on trends and have fun with it, go for it but it’s way more important to focus on these 3 elements and do them really well to crush IG in 2024

REELS ARE KING 👑

In the beginning of 2023, Instagram acknowledged that the app over-focused on video in 2022 (as it was combating TikTok’s explosive growth) and that in 2023 Instagram shifts the focus back to photos. We have seen a come-back of picture sharing, photo dumps and carrousels.

I personally like some variety on the feed and I think we’ll continue seeing it BUT Instagram users have gotten used to watching 👀 and engaging with video content. 140 billion reels are played across IG and FB daily. That’s a crazy number to wrap your head around right! That explains why short-form video typically generates much higher reach than static posts. Reels are your ticket to a broader audience and impactful online success.

The vast majority of Instagram users are consumers not creators. And a whole lot of creators find it challenging to create content consistently. But the ones that do, and are really invested in creating awesome content that their audience engage with are able to grow their audience.

Reels, and especially DTC (Direct To Camera) videos are going to be your most important tool to reach a larger audience, make a bigger impact and elevate your career

If you really want to stand out in your niche; talk directly to camera. Connect with your audience, look into their eyes. You are here to help, to serve and to improve their lives right? Show up for them, talk to them and build trust, a deeper connection.

I know.. speaking directly into camera can feel so intimidating! 😫 Even though you speak confidently with your friends, co-workers and clients- when you hit the record button and start to speak, you may get self-conscious stutter, lose your train of thought. It may be so discouraging that you have convinced yourself that it's not something you will ever be good at.I'm here to invite you to reconsider!

There is a lot of content out there, there are a lot of fitness and health and wellness professionals/enthusiasts out there. And what makes you unique is your character, your voice, the way you explain things and how you put yourself out there. There is not one other person like you. Do things your way and show your sense of humor.

Transparency and honesty are key to building a loyal audience. This means that the more real you are the better, the more your audience feel connected to you. You don’t have to put on a show, look perfect or create over produced content.  Much better right? Take the pressure off,  show the real you- you are wonderful! 🌟

If you have been holding back and have not expressed yourself on Instagram as how you show up in everyday life, you are not only doing yourself a disservice but your audience as well. It’s time to show up and own your page!

Tip: Have you created an intro reel that is pinned 📌 to the top of your page? That’s a great way to welcome new followers. Introduce yourself and share a little about your background/credentials that is relevant to what you share and offer on your page.

If you have not made any money with your Instagram page in 2023 than it’s time to chance that! Wouldn’t creating content feel so much more fun and rewarding if you would make money with it? Yes of course! You may not have felt “ready” or “capable” and wonder if your content is good enough and your audience  is large enough. You may feel discouraged when you compare yourself with some IG influencers that you admire and don’t feel like you are in the same playing field. But what if you think about the content creators in the fitness and health and wellness industry that may  have less experience, less knowledge than you and have more visibility and seem to thrive online?

The difference? The person that is in your eyes successful is doing it, and also just figuring it all out- there is no linear path or success formula, other than creating content that your audience loves and engages with, being consistent  and fine tune your strategy. Tey have been investing in their Instagram community and have an engaged audience that will buy what they offer, leave great reviews and trust brand recommendations.
