Without being fully aware of it, we often do things for others that we’d actually like to receive ourselves. It’s very fulfilling to give to others, but it’s important to keep a balance and not forget about our own needs. The foot rub you gave to someone you love, the sweet post card you send to a friend, the flowers you had delivered to your mum. Are those all things that you would like to receive as well? If so, then why wait for the favor to be returned? Why not do for ourselves what we do for others? That’s self-love! Aren’t we often times much more gentle and have much more patience for someone else? I know I do….
I was reminded of this when my hubby was traveling for a week. I suddenly had lots of time on my hands because I love taking care of him and now that he wasn’t home, I used it to spoil/ love myself! I did yoga, booked a massage, went to the spa, cooked delicious meals for myself etc. It felt so good to spend this time on myself and it helped me to incorporate this kind of self-love for when he’s at home too. Loving myself like this makes me feel happier and balanced and that has a positive effect on our relationship. I realized that I have much more to give when I take great care of myself, so everyone around me benefits from it. I’ve also learned that when I give without expectations to get something in return ,the giving becomes receiving as well.
What would you like to receive today? Can you give this to yourself? Investing in yourself is the best investment you can make. You are worth it and deserve it. The more you love yourself the more you can love others!
Big hug and lots of love,
