Let’s do a gluten free week starting Monday! Have you ever tried taking gluten out of your diet? And what are gluten exactly?
Gluten is the name for one of the proteins in barley, rye, and all forms of wheat. It’s the protein found in wheat that gives elasticity to dough, helping it to rise and keep its shape.
So that means no pasta, bread and pastries this week…
Don’t worry you don’t have to feel deprived 😉 you can eat plenty of things like quinoa, brown rice, potatoes and in many health food stores you can find gluten free pasta (black bean spaghetti is my favorite)
And as always I recommend to eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, legumes and a moderate amount of nuts and seeds + drink lots of water
A permanent gluten-free diet is only for those that are sensitive or intolerant of gluten. Some of the symptoms are; feeling bloated, lethargic, brain fog, anxiety etc. Some of us might not even know that effect gluten has on our well being and that’s why I I’d like to introduce a gluten free week. This is just a fun experiment to see if you feel any different and to give your body a break, a bit of a detox!
Watch out; a food billed as “gluten-free” isn’t necessarily healthier. It’s become quite fashionable to label products that have never contained gluten, gluten-free, but these products can still be high in calories, fat, and carbohydrates.
