When I order something online and I’m about to fill out my address I pause for a moment, several addresses and zipcodes run through my mind and I have to focus to match them up. When I’m at the airport and I hear it’s time to get onboard of the aircraft going to NYC, I’m about to get up but then realize It’s not where I’m going. And when I’m driving to an appointment I use my GPS because I don’t know how to get there without.. I really forget where I live at times.. What’s going on with me?
Don’t worry, my mind is not deteriorating just yet.. it’s merely a side effect of moving three times in one year. At this time last year I lived in sunny Miami and last Thanksgiving we celebrated in our cute apartment in Brooklyn, while unpacking boxes. And since a few months I live in Los Angeles again, totally unexpected. You probably wonder what happened?Let me explain; In June my hubby and I decided to fly to the west coast to take our RV out of storage and enjoyed a few adventurous weeks in nature throughout Northern California and Oregon. We then decided to extend our trip and go and spend time with our friends in LA. When we arrived it felt as if we came home; we were welcomed by our amazing friends, the mountains and the ocean. We missed this place.
We kept postponing our return to NY and were fantasizing about living in our RV. We’ve lived in many places, from big mansions to small one bedrooms., but nothing beats the freedom we feel when we are in our RV. We realized we’re both not tied down to a location anymore when it comes to work ; as long as we have access to a phone, computer we’re good. It’s a huge privilege and that’s when we decided to make a dream come true; we live in our RV and love it!
Many friends fancy the idea but feel claustrophobic at the same time thinking about living in a confined space with their partner. It sure can be challenging but at the same time it brings you closer; there’s simply no room to fight LOL. Life has become less cluttered and more simple; you have to be really picky with what clothes and stuff you want to have because the closets are tiny. I have three pans instead of 10, I have ½ of my already small wardrobe and that’s all I need. We’ re based out of LA and when we feel like going someplace else we only have to start the engine and drive off!
Are you playing with the idea of moving somewhere else? Do you crave change but are afraid of it at the same time? This is what I’ve done several times; I call it the three month trial. Rent a place in the the city you’re flirting with for three months and airb&b your place out so you won’t have double the costs. It’s a small commitment but enough time to experience the ins and outs of a new place. You will soon know if the fantasy was better than the reality or if this is the place where you want to move to!
