It was a pleasure to interview Bailee Roberts for Models Do Eat; she’s such a smart, down to earth and food loving beauty! Bailee is also featured in the newest issue (June) of Health and fitness magazine talking about her blog and health.
Bailee: “I’m not naturally toothpick skinny; It’s a conscious effort me to stay slim. While I’ve always been aware of the importance of keeping healthy, my enjoyment of cooking and eating can take over! If I ever struggle to find a balance between modeling and life’s pleasures, such as cake and wine, then I’ll find another job”!
Why did you start a food blog?
I have a lot of girlfriends who aren’t models and often ask me what I eat to stay in shape. And I wanted to show people that not all models survive on lettuce leaves.
What is your ultimate dream?
For The Model Foodie, I’d like to continue to grow the readership, start doing video tutorials and become better at ‘blog networking’. Personally, I’d like to become a nutritionist and perhaps write a book. Ultimately, I just want to end up living on the coast back in California with my family and a dog.
If you weren’t a model, what career would you have picked?
I did my undergrad at UC Berkeley in Political Science and than my Master in War Studies at King’s College London. So, I probably would have gone into politics.
What are your kitchen staples?
I always have, butternut squash, spinach, avocados, feta, blueberries, oats, coconut oil, agave nectar, eggs, German rye bread, tomatoes, salmon, chicken, dark chocolate, milk, Greek yogurt etc.
What chef would you like to come to your house and cook for you? I’ve got a massive celeb crush on Jamie Oliver. I have most of his books, follow him on Instagram and twitter. I really like his style of cooking. It’s all about the food, pushing ‘fancy’ presentation aside.
What was your biggest kitchen disaster?
Baking red velvet cupcakes for the first time! I could basically bounce them off the walls. I haven’t tried them again… too scared. J
What dish/recipe are you most proud of?
My safeties are: apple and winter berry crumble, cajun scallop and cod in rice noodles, roast veggies, good roast chicken, the skinny lasagna, fish pie, pancakes. You can find them all on TheModelFoodie.com
What’s your definition of health?
For me, it’s a clear head, strong nourished toned body and a positive attitude.
What’s you favorite body part?
Oh gosh, typical girl, I don’t have a favorite part, but if I had to choose, I don’t mind my stomach and arms.
What part of your body is hardest to keep in shape?
My Bum. It’s a defiantly, my bum. I’m not sure its ever been ‘in shape’. It’s very stubborn.
Does you pie loving husband cook for you?
The husband is an awesome cook. Though these skills seems to shine when we have friends over, but I get treated to some pretty awesome weekend brunches. The boy can poach an egg perfectly.
What’s your latest discovery/ excitement with food?
Agave nectar because it’s almost license to eat more sweet stuff and bakes beautifully.
THANKS BAILEE! Keep spreading the joy of cooking!
